maple leaves and maple trees
i miss warm tea that is necessary for defrosting.
i miss the heater in my living room and the crunch of leaves as i walk through fall in my town.
i miss the changing of seasons and the cloud of seasonal gloominess that sweeps everyone away for a few months. sounds depressing, i know, but the first sign of spring brings greater rejoicing because we all walked through the gray fog together.
all this to say. i am grateful for where I am.
but if you are in Canada dreading the rain, remember that lessons come in small drops of heaven and the sun has greater meaning when it fights for your viewing. thankfulness for the comfort Christ can bring when we run to him in the dullness, in the heaviness, in the weariness, in the dryness and in the monotony, or, even more so, the chaos of life.
there is so much to be learned in the darkness when we look toward the light.
to my lovelies at home:
you are missed, you are cherished.
and when you want to curse the gloom, remember that the harvest can not come without the rain.
someone put on a peacoat, walk down to the pier and drink a cup of chai for me.
this was supposed to be about the DTS, my amazing team and how were going to Cambodia in 5 weeks! oops. until next time:
“Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard… and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10
