freedom
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness and the result is eternal life”. Romans 6:22
set free to become slaves.
what a clash! a marvelous rivalry that, through the upside down Kingdom, finds continuity.
free from sin so that we may willingly offer ourselves in service to our King. willingly giving yourself over to someone or some cause isn’t really what i consider slavery when you fully believe in them or the cause, in their goodness, in their ability to care for and provide for you.
if this life i am living is slavery, then what, may I ask, is freedom?
down here we have mere glimpses of our inheritance, we receive revelations and blessings, and we have been set free in order that we may choose to obey. in heaven i do not think it’s so much of a conscious obedience, but a natural reaction to love, only love and then pure love some more. we will fully understand what it means to be an heir.
if this is slavery, leave me shackled here, to the grace of God, forever.
indeed, if this is slavery than keep these binds of righteousness on my feet, keep these chains of holiness around my wrists. keep me in this cell of life and life abundantly!
oh yes, there is beauty in this bondage.
